AWARDS COMMITTEE ONE YEAR TERM — Meets 2-3 times a year as needed
The Awards Committee is responsible for the selection of the GBRAR Award winners from nominations made by the membership and the information provided by the nominees and shall consist of:
The immediate Past President of the GBRAR, who shall serve as chair of the Committee. In the event the immediate past GBRAR President is unable to serve, his/her predecessor shall serve as Chair. Current President appoints 6 members and Committee chair appoints 6 members for minimum of 13 committee members. No more than three (3) members from one company may be appointed. Committee members must have been a GBRAR member for at least 5 years. REALTOR® Members Only.
COMMUNITY RELATIONS COMMITTEE ONE YEAR TERM — Meets monthly or as needed
Responsible for working closely with the B.R. Area Foundation to determine which community organizations and programs to fund (specifically economic development, housing, and public education) with voluntary community service contributions. REALTOR® Members Only
GOVERNMENTAL RELATIONS COMMITTEE ONE YEAR TERM — Meets monthly – 3rd Thursday of the month, 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. (Dates and times, subject to change)
Responsible for monitoring activities of local City Council, Planning Commission, and other governmental entities that could impact real estate and private property rights and keeping the membership informed of the Association’s position. Establish rapport with council members, and state and federal legislators, and work with Homeowner Associations. Responsible for making policy recommendations to the Board of Directors. Responsible for encouraging participation in political activities, including contributing to LARPAC. Inform and educate the membership on legislative issues before they are called upon to vote or lobby legislators. NOTE: Members of the committee who are also members of LARPAC comprise the local Political Action Team and will make decisions on the distribution of LARPAC funds as prescribed under the GBRAR/LARPAC Cooperative Agreement. Sub-Committee of Government Relations; PAT (Political Action Team) Fundraising (Works in conjunction with the Government Relations Committee) Meets monthly – 3rd Thursday of the month, 10:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. (Dates and times, subject to change)
This sub-committee plans and executes RPAC fundraising events with staff support to meet fundraising goals established by NAR and LR. Fundraising and fundraising events are the focus of this sub-committee. Open to REALTOR® Members and Affiliate Members
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE ONE YEAR TERM — Meets monthly – 3rd Thursday of the month, 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. (Dates and times, subject to change)
Responsible for providing general educational programs and projects, including cooperating with other local, state and national associations; works closely with all other committees to facilitate the education of the membership. REALTOR® Members Only
PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS COMMITTEE ONE YEAR TERM — Meets as needed for hearings
Responsible for the enforcement of the Code of Ethics and training of the members of the Committee to prepare them to serve on hearing panels. Training of the Association’s mediators to assure the continuance of the mediation process as an alternative to arbitration. To assist the Education Committee with the training of general membership in areas of Professional Standards. Must agree to annual training, prior to serving on hearing panels. REALTOR® Members Only
GRIEVANCE COMMITTEE THREE YEAR TERM — Meets as needed
Act as a ‘grand jury’ to determine the disposition of complaints, whether to be heard as an ethics or arbitration hearing or to be dismissed as inappropriate of further consideration. Must be appointed by the President. REALTOR® Members Only.
MLS (MULTIPLE LISTING SERVICE) COMMITTEE THREE YEAR TERM — Meets monthly – 3rd Wednesday of the month, 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. (Dates and times, subject to change)
The committee overseeing the operation and policymaking of the Multiple Listing Service and Lockbox system that GBRAR offers to it’s members. The committee is made up of nine members, with the majority being MLS Participants (Brokers). No more than three (3) may concurrently serve on the Board of Directors, and no more than two (2) may serve from the same firm. Subscribers (agents) must receive written permission from their Participants to serve. REALTOR® Members Only
RISK MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE ONE YEAR TERM — Meets monthly – 3rd Monday of the month, 1:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. (Dates and times, subject to change)
Works closely with the legal community to keep members informed of current legal practices in the real estate market. Recommends risk reduction practices to the Association. Also responsible for reviewing and evaluating all Association documents. REALTOR® Members Only
