The Greater Baton Rouge Association of REALTORS® has proudly donated over $40,000.00 to Baton Rouge Area Foundation.
B.R.A.F. is amongst one of the largest community foundations in the country. Its mission is to enhance the quality of life in Southern Louisiana. More specifically, BRAF serves more than 600 fund donors, undertakes projects for civic goods, and supports local nonprofits with strategic consulting to endure overall impact and sustainability.
GBRAR works with BRAF in determining organizations in which to donate community service contributions. In keeping with the GBRAR mission and area of interest in housing, economic development, and/or education in our community, the following organizations received funds from GBRAR through BRAF:
- Capital Area Family Violence Battered Women’s Program – We empower survivors, prevent relationship violence, and promote justice for victims of domestic and dating violence, their children, and our communities.
- Gardere Initiative Inc. – a faith based, non profit, community outreach organization designed to address substance abuse and other social ills in the Gardere area that adversely affect the children, neighboring subdivisions, and the City in general through spiritual intervention, collaboration and partnerships.
- Habitat for Humanity of Greater Baton Rouge – is an ecumenical, nonprofit housing ministry that builds and renovates houses in partnership with the Greater Baton Rouge community. Through helping hands and giving hearts, we are on a mission to eliminate poverty housing.
- HOPE Ministries of Baton Rouge – HOPE’s mission is to prevent homelessness and promote self-sufficiency and dignity.
- The Life of a Single Mom – The Life of a Single Mom® exists to improve the lives of single mothers by providing support groups and education in 3 core areas: Parenting, Finances, and Health & Wellness.
- Line 4 Line O’Neil Barber and Beauty Salon – Line4Line, a creative literacy nonprofit in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, uses books with art to excite, empower, and get kids interested in reading and learning. The organization began in 2016 as several barbers volunteering their time to give young men a fresh cut if they read a book aloud and has since evolved and expanded into schools and other creative spaces.
- Rebuilding Together Baton Rouge Inc. – Our home repair services are aimed at allowing elderly or disabled low-income homeowners to stay in their homes longer. We focus on helping those most vulnerable to the rising cost of living and falling social service budgets.
- Urban Restoration Enhancement Corporation – Urban Restoration Enhancement Corporation (UREC) transforms communities by investing in people and restoring neighborhoods. Our core initiatives in the areas of Affordable Housing, Human Development, and Community Engagement center on providing high quality social, economic and residential opportunities to low to moderate income families in the Greater Baton Rouge region.
