Earlier this month, the National Association of REALTORS® released a three-part video series that reveals how average everyday people have an implicit bias. But what is Implicit Bias? The National Institute of Health identifies implicit bias as “a form of bias that occurs automatically and unintentionally, that nevertheless affects judgments, decisions, and behaviors.” In short, implicit bias is how our unconscious brains use assumptions as shortcuts that can affect our thinking and behavior. Implicit bias plays a huge role in fair housing violations in the real estate industry.
